Leadership traditionally has emphasised scaling products and processes. However, in our VUCA times the leadership paradigm needs to change to scale empathy, compassion and caring as staff are dealing with more uncertainty and pressure than ever before.

I think it’s public alert time because the leadership paradigm needs to change to keep up with industry 4.0. So, by that I mean that what used to work, which was, hierarchy and control and scaling things and really all the efficiency beliefs and assumptions behind that, being the best way. It’s not holistic enough and it’s certainly not human enough.
So I think we are ushering in the era of relationship leadership. It’s inspirational, it’s connective, it’s genuinely caring. And if you’re going to scale anything, scale Caring about people, caring about the planet, caring about society.
